A joke I took a little too far.
Specific mechanic explanations:
Bombing costs 50 rings and transforms you into Super Sonic for 6 seconds. When your bomb is about to expire, Sonic will flash red indicating that you may extend the length of Super Sonic for an additional full 6 seconds at a lower cost of 30 rings. Keep note that you will only do the initial 800 damage burst when you initially cast Super Sonic at 50 rings, and you will only do the final 500 damage from the emeralds when it finally finishes, hence the much lower sustain cost.
During Super Sonic, you can still be hit but not killed. Being hit will make Sonic falter, falling slightly down the screen, unable to shoot for 0.5 seconds, and he will also lose 5 rings. Sonic will gain invincibility for 0.75 seconds after this.
During Super Sonic, you will burst out energy if you are not hit every 1.6 seconds, dealing moderate damage and eliminating nearby bullets.
Groups of 6 rings drop at intervals of 5 seconds throughout the time you play the script. Defeating a boss nonspell or spell grants 9 rings. Capturing a spellcard grants an additional 16 rings.
